Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan keterampilan membaca teks narrative siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Mandirancan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Pada setiap siklus, terdapat empat tahap yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes membaca teks narrative. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran PBL dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca teks narrative siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan peningkatan skor rata-rata hasil tes membaca teks narrative dari 70,81 pada siklus I menjadi 82,68 pada siklus II. Peningkatan keterampilan membaca teks narrative siswa terlihat pada beberapa aspek, yaitu: Keterampilan memahami alur cerita, Keterampilan memahami karakter tokoh, Keterampilan memahami latar belakang cerita, Keterampilan menyimpulkan isi cerita. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran PBL efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca teks narrative siswa.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ SKILLS IN READING NARRATIVE TEXTS



ABSTRACT

This research aims to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on improving the narrative text reading skills of class IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Mandirancan. This research is classroom action research (PTK) which was carried out in two cycles. In each cycle, there are four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The research instrument used was a narrative text reading test. The research results show that the application of the PBL learning model can improve students' narrative text reading skills. This is proven by the increase in the average score of the narrative text reading test results from 70.81 in cycle I to 82.68 in cycle II. The improvement in students' narrative text reading skills can be seen in several aspects, namely: Skills in understanding the plot of the story, Skills in understanding the characters, Skills in understanding the background of the story, Skills in concluding the content of the story. Based on the results of this research, it is concluded that the PBL learning model is effective for improving students' narrative text reading skills.
